Dunkin’ Donuts Park named best Double-A ballpark for fourth time
Ballpark Digest has selected Dunkin’ Donuts Park as the Best Double-A Ballpark in America for the fourth time since it opened in 2017.
Dunkin’ Donuts Park received the distinction in 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022. It is the first time that a minor league ballpark has won the award four times, the Yard Goats announced.
The Yard Goats have sold out 23 games in Hartford this season, attracting more than 254,000 fans in 2022. Also, the Yard Goats have sold out every home game during the past five weekends.
The nearly $72 million ballpark in downtown Hartford opened in 2017, following construction delays that forced the Colorado Rockies’ Double-A Eastern League Affiliate to play their 2016 season on the road.
Dunkin’ Donuts Park has hosted Division I college baseball games, high school and legion contests, along with a Cape Cod League game last week.
The Yard Goats became the first minor league baseball club in Connecticut to attract more than 400,000 fans in consecutive seasons, the team said.
“Year-over-year, we continue to be impressed and humbled by our fans’ loyalty and dedication,” Yard Goats General Manager Mike Abramson said. “Ensuring Dunkin’ Donuts Park is once again named Best Double-A Ballpark in America is a great example of how they shout their allegiance from the rooftops. There’s an energy here that doesn’t exist anywhere else, and that starts with the fans.”
